  4. Check the world clock strip for the time in New York, London, Tokyo and Sydney.

12-hour or 24-hour clock?

The default matches the language settings of your browser. The United States, Canada, Australia and India mostly use the 12-hour clock with AM and PM; the UK uses both, with the 24-hour clock in timetables. Converting is simple: from 1 PM onwards, add 12 hours (3 PM = 15:00). Midnight is 12 AM or 00:00 and noon is 12 PM or 12:00.

How accurate is this clock?

The clock shows the time of your own device. Phones and computers normally set their clocks automatically from internet time servers, so they are usually within a fraction of a second of official time. If the clock looks wrong, turn on “Set time automatically” in your system settings and check that the time zone is correct.

Time zone, UTC offset and week number

  • Time zone: the region your device uses, for example America/Chicago or Asia/Kolkata.
  • UTC offset: how far your time is from Coordinated Universal Time. New York is UTC−5 in winter and UTC−4 in summer; India is UTC+5:30 all year.
  • Week number: the ISO 8601 week, where weeks start on Monday and week 1 contains the first Thursday of the year.

Daylight saving time in late 2026

Clocks go back one hour in the UK on 25 October 2026 and in most of the US and Canada on 1 November 2026. In Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra, daylight saving time started on 4 October 2026. The clock follows these changes automatically.

Ideas for a full-screen clock

Use it as a desk clock on a second monitor, a classroom or exam clock, a gym clock, a clock for live streams, or a bedside clock on an old tablet.
